If one day in the Yarra Valley is not enough for you then come and spend a week with us in France’s beautiful Loire Valley. Hot on the heels of three very successful years of Porcine Pursuits, Richard and Lisa are taking small groups to the Loire Valley during the golden Autumn months of September – October.
This is a culinary experience like no other, set in an incredibly special part of the Loire Valley where Lisa lived 20 years ago. Now they want to share this part of the world with you.
The domaine of La Briche in the Loire Valley, home to France’s nobility for centuries, was established in the mid 19th c. by Jean-Francois Cail,
a self-made millionaire whose vision was to create the most modern farm in Europe. 150 years later many of the buildings no longer exist, but those that do include the beautiful Chapelle, with its stained glass windows designed by Jean-Luc Galand, (the son-in-law of Charles Gounod, the composer of the opera Faust).
The property is in the heart of woodlands and farmland, seemingly remote and endowed with a serenity and peacefulness not easily found.
Yet 15 minutes away on the Loire River is the famous Chateau of Langeais and Paris is easily accessible via the TGV- 1 hour from Tours to Montparnasse.
It is here at La Briche that you will be immersed in the rustic French countryside, living the French country life and cooking all that fabulous regional produce.
It is an extraordinary opportunity to learn all things charcuterie, confit and patisserie with your passionate and inspiring chef Richard Hauptmann.
Being there in Autumn means the mushrooms and snails will be aplenty and some foraging will almost certainly take place.
There will be a visit to Villandry with its exquisite gardens and of course to Chateau Langeais where Anne of Bretagne became Queen of France….twice!
This culinary adventure will provide a hands-on week of buying superb produce from the local markets, preparing and eating iconic French cuisine and drinking some sensational wines from Chinon, Bourgueil and Vouvray.

This is a rural and rustic experience for people who love to cook. Richard and Lisa have sourced the finest small producers of the region and can offer you an intimate insight into the culinary history and life of the region. 8 places only – 8 days and 7 nights accommodation,
All food, wine, recipes, transfers to and from Tours (AUD) $4,000 per person twin or double share.
